Privacy Policy

This is the privacy policy for WindUp ("WindUp", "we", "us"), an iOS app published by Virtual Verse Studio. This policy describes what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

1. Data we collect

We collect the minimum data needed to run the app and provide live wind alarms:

• Account & preferences: Email (if you sign in), wind alarm settings, preferred stations.
• Location: If you grant location access, we use it to show stations near you. Location is not stored on our servers in identifiable form.
• Notification tokens: An anonymous Apple Push token used to deliver alarms.
• Usage analytics: Anonymous product analytics via PostHog, covering both the app and this website — which screens and pages are opened, which features and links are used, page performance, and your approximate location and device type derived from your IP address. These events are not linked to your name or email.
• Session recordings: PostHog records how you interact with the app and with windup.live — screens and pages opened, taps and clicks, scrolling and mouse movement — so we can find confusing or broken parts. Text you type into input fields is masked, and the wake-up-call phone number is masked in the app.

2. What we don't do

• We do not sell your data to third parties.
• We do not advertise to you.
• We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

We do connect your own visit to windup.live with your WindUp install, so we can tell how many people who read the site go on to use the app. This is anonymous — it links a random ID from the website to a random ID in the app, and neither is tied to your name or email.

3. How we use the data

We use the data only to operate the app — deliver alarms, show stations near you, sync your preferences across devices, and improve the product.

4. Data retention

Account data is kept while your account is active. Delete your account in-app to remove your stored preferences. Session recordings are deleted automatically after 30 days. Anonymous analytics events are kept for up to 7 years.

5. Third parties

WindUp uses Apple Push Notification Service to deliver alarms and PostHog for anonymous product analytics on both the app and this website. Each has its own privacy policy. We do not share identifiable data with anyone else.

6. Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, request deletion, or correct any incorrect data by emailing support@windup.live. We aim to respond within 30 days.

7. Children

WindUp is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and announce it in the app or on our website. Continued use of WindUp after changes counts as acceptance.
